As I approach 60, I look back and can’t believe I’ve been in the drainage industry for 40 years !!
I started out in banking, shirt, tie, and all. But my dad, Roger, had other plans. He wanted me to come into the family drainage business and help expand what he’d built. 01/09/1983, I swapped the office life for overalls and boots, learning the ropes quite literally on the ground.
At the young age of 33 I was running InSewer surveys our CCTV division which was just taking shape. We were a tiny team of three, figuring things out as we went along! By 2013 I took over running the entire business with my brother Ty Sellar
Over the decades, I’ve seen the industry transform, from hand drawn plans and basic kit to the advanced technology we now use daily. And with it, our business has grown too. From that small crew, we’ve built a company with deep roots, strong relationships, and a reputation we’re proud of.
It’s been a journey full of muddy boots, late nights, highs and lows. Most of all, I’m proud that we’ve kept our family ethos at the heart of everything, just as we set out to.
Here’s to the next chapter and maybe a little less climbing down manholes and looking up pipes for me (haven’t done that in a few years!) and more time on the golf course or running!!
